Stat Updates - UNO vs Southern (N.O.)
NEW ORLEANS - The University of New Orleans volleyball program will close the 2011 season by facing three straight opponents at home beginning on Wednesday at 7 p.m. against Southern (N.O.) at the Human Performance Center.
UNO (2-19) has dropped 15 in a row since they defeated SUNO (14-9) 3-0 on Sept. 14 at The Castle.
The previous encounter against the Knights was one of the Privateers' top offensive performances of the season. UNO hit .260 as a team while
Jasmyne Walker's .611 single-match attack clip remains the best attack percentage of a Privateer on the season.
On the season,
Laila Hansen is the top UNO hitter with 2.8 kills per set and is second to Walker in the attack percentage category with a .181 hitting percentage. Like her teammate, Hansen found success against SUNO in the previous match, putting together 10 kills and 10 digs.
Helping carry the offensive burden for the pair of Walker and Hansen is the duo
Tory Hearn and
Elena Villar, who have both emerged as of late. Hearn and Villar have averaged 2.2 kills per set apiece over the last three matches including a high of 13 kills each in last week's four-set affair against Xavier (La.).
SUNO is led by Zipporah Washington and Christal Hollins.
The Knights receive 3.04 kills per set from Washington and another 2.68 kills from Hollins. The two were the top hitters against UNO last time out as Washington tallied 10 kills with 11 errors with Hollins putting down seven kills with five errors.
Following Wednesday's match, the Privateers will host Valdosta State on Friday at 6 p.m. and West Georgia on Saturday at 1 p.m. Both matches will held in the Lakefront Arena Auxiliary Gym with fans strongly encouraged to park in the 'North Shell Lot'.
