UNO Tennis Travels to Alcorn State Wednesday

Men, Women Scheduled to Play at 12 p.m.

LORMAN, Miss. - The University of New Orleans men's and women's tennis teams will face Division I foe Alcorn State on Wednesday at 12 p.m.

The UNO men (5-2) are on a two-match win streak, which includes a 4-0 victory over Spring Hill this past Friday while the women bring a 3-6 record with a pair of consecutive 7-0 losses over the weekend.

Hossam Meligy is 5-2 this spring to lead the Privateer men, including wins in his last two matches to bolster his record to 3-0 at the No. 3 singles' court. Vinay Kamineni is 4-2 at the No. 2 court with Abdelrahman Zaki posting a 4-2 record spread amongst playing at four different positions.

In doubles' play, Zaki and Kamineni are 3-2 at the No. 2 court with Rohit Chivukula and Oliver Grimbly matching them at 3-2 on the No. 3 court. Rounding out the top Privateer tandems are Benjamin Bouhana and Meligy, who have gone 4-3 record at No. 1.

Sofija Karalic and Amber Garza are leading the Privateer women this spring with matching 5-4 marks, but both players enter the week on two-match losing streaks.

In doubles' play, Garza pairs with Kozue Matsumoto for a 6-3 record at the No. 1 court, including the lone victory for UNO in Sunday's loss to Savannah College of Art & Design - Atlanta.

No information was available from Alcorn State.

UNO last played the Braves in 2008 with the men and women picking up matching 7-0 victories. The Alcorn women were scheduled to play Southeastern Louisiana on Tuesday night with no proper schedule available for the men.

Both Privateer tennis teams are scheduled to resume their season on Sunday at 10 a.m. at the University Tennis Center against cross-town foe Xavier (La.).
