Box Score
RUSTON, La. - The New Orleans Privateers women's basketball team fought hard but eventually fell to state rival Louisiana Tech, 69-39, on Friday night in Ruston.
A scrappy UNO (0-5, 0-0 Southland) kept the score close for the majority of the first half. After the eight minute media time out, the trio of JaQuan Jackson, Chrisstasia Walter and Whitney Frazier sparked a 19-4 run to end the first half with the Lady Techsters firmly in control with the score, 35-18.
Despite their best rebounding effort of the season with 42 total rebounds, cold shooting doomed the Privateers as they struggled to find the basket hitting only 13 of 54 shots (24.1%) in the contest.Â
In the second half, Louisiana Tech (1-4, 0-0 CUSA) used sharp shooting from beyond the arc (3-for-8) and at the free throw line (11-for-15) to keep the Privateers at bay and earn their first win of the season.
Freshman guard
Jewel Angelo led the Privateers with 10 points on 4 of 8 shooting in 21 minutes of action.
Yasmin Taylor led the Privateers on the boards with six rebounds.
