FRISCO, Texas –
Nora Francois added another accolade to her senior season as she was named Second Team All-Southland on Saturday afternoon as voted on by the conference members.
Francois was a three-time Southland Player of the Week, which was the most selections by any Southland player this season. Francois also became the first Privateer since Carvie Upshaw (1988-89) to win conference Player of the Week three times in the same season.
The Minneapolis native averaged 15.0 points per game, which was good for third in the Southland. She had seven games of 20 or more points including a season-best 26 against Baylor on Nov. 26.
Francois was also one of the premier rebounders in the conference as she averaged 8.2 boards per game. That total ranked fifth in the Southland and she finished her Privateer career with 490 rebounds. Francois had five double-doubles on the season.
In the second meeting against East Texas A&M, Francois accomplished something that hadn't been done at New Orleans since 2003 when she notched a triple-double (19 points, 19 rebounds, 10 assists). It was the fifth triple-double in program history.
Francois also finished third in free throw percentage, tied for sixth in blocks and tied for seventh in steals in the conference.
For Coach
Trelanne Powell it's her second All-Conference selection in as many seasons.
DeArica Pryor earned Second Team All-Southland honors in 2023-24.
Alexius Horne (Southeastern) won Player of the Year. Ayla Guzzardo (Southeastern) won Coach of the Year. Northwestern State took Newcomer of the Year (Mya Blake) and Freshman of the Year (Vernell Atamah). Jalencia Pierre of Southeastern was named Defensive Player of the Year.
