NEW ORLEANS –
Trelanne Powell and the women's basketball program have announced the hiring of a new assistant coach in Darrius Mazyck ahead of the upcoming 2025-26 season.
Since 2020, Mazyck has spent time at Texas Tech, Cincinnati, Wake Forest and Mercer prior to his arrival on the Lakefront.
"I'm honored to join UNO Women's basketball program," said Mazyck. "I'm excited to contribute to the development of our student athletes both on and off the court. I'm looking forward to working with Coach Powell and the rest of the staff as we build something special here at UNO"
Last season, Mazyck was an assistant at Mercer where he worked with post player development. Mazyck also oversaw the development of the digital playbook and video program while with the Bears.
I am thrilled to add Darrius "Zeke" Mazyck to my staff," said Coach Powell. "He has dedicated a significant amount of time and effort to this business. He knows the grind and is ready to get to work continuing to improve our recruiting efforts and post development. Zeke's attitude of service for the good of others, makes him a great fit here and we are happy to welcome him and his wife Brae to the family.
Mazyck also served as the video coordinator at Wake Forest during the 2023-24 season. He created style of play videos for recruiting purposes and developed strategies for games. Mazyck also collaborated with the coaching staff on both game plans for opponents and evaluating recruits.
At Cincinnati, Mazyck was the Director of Video during the 2022-23 season. He assisted the coaches with skill development and assisted in coordinating recruiting visits.
Prior to 2020, Mazyck spent two years as a graduate assistant with Clemson where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in '18. He earned a Master's Degree in 2020 in Athletic Leadership.
