STARKVILLE, Miss. – The New Orleans women's tennis team made its first road appearance of the 2013 dual season on Friday afternoon, falling 6-1 to Southeastern Conference foe Mississippi State.
Senior
Kristina Martic was the lone UNO (0-2) tennis player to contribute to the Privateers' tally in the dual. Playing at the No. 2 court, Martic won the opening set at the No. 2 court over Georgiania Patrasc 6-4 before the MSU (3-0) player pulled out with an ankle injury.
The Bulldogs won the remainder of the five singles' matches and both completed doubles' encounters.

Fanny Benincasa nearly joined Martic in the win column, both rallying from a set down to force a third set. Arroyo was defeated 6-4, 3-6, 10-6 by Naomi Tran on the No. 3 court with Benincasa falling 6-2, 5-7, 6-1 to Lien Van Geel at the No. 4 position.
The UNO women's tennis team continues their four dual stretch on the road, beginning with Sam Houston State on Feb. 15. Matches at Prairie View A&M (Feb. 16) and crosstown rival Tulane (Feb. 20) follow as the Privateers will not play at the University Tennis Center until Feb. 24 against McNeese State.
