Privateers, Jackson State Square Off Saturday

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team (2-1) heads back to the court in a rematch against the Jackson State Tigers (0-6) on Saturday at the University Tennis Center.

The match was a late addition to the schedule announced earlier this week after weather has had an early effect on the 2014 dual season. New Orleans defeated the Tigers 6-1 on Jan. 31 to open their dual season.

New Orleans is coming off their first loss of the 2014 season, a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Southern Mississippi on Sunday, Feb. 16. In that match, the Privateers lost the doubles point after losing a tiebreaker on Court 2.

Junior Rui Silva has stepped into the 1 position for Timo Kranz who is still battling a back injury. Silva has not dropped a set in singles matches, and his latest effort was a 6-2, 6-2 win over Southern Mississippi's 1 position player, Paulo Alvarado.

The only point the Tigers picked off from the Privateers on the Jan. 31 meeting was when Kashyap Ashok won his singles match from the 1 position after Kranz had to retire from the match shortly after taking the first set.
The match is scheduled to get underway at 10 a.m.
