Privateers Pick Up Action Against Lamar

NEW ORLEANS, La. – After having a 12-day layoff, the New Orleans men's tennis team welcomes the Lamar Cardinals to the Tennis Center on Friday, April 11 at 2 p.m.

The Privateers (5-7, 1-3 Southland) lost last time out to Incarnate Word, while the Cardinals (12-10, 1-2 Southland) also suffered defeat in their last match, falling to conference foe Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.  New Orleans features strong singles play from Christoffer Appelgren with a 7-3 overall record and a 3-1 mark in conference. He has split time between the No. 5 and No. 6 spots in the lineup and has won his last two matches.

Appelgren also teams up with Rui Silva in doubles play to be the Privateers most dangerous pair, sporting a 7-4 record.  Appelgren and Silva have also won their last two doubles outings.

The Cardinals are led by Juuso Laitinen with an 11-10 record in singles, as he has spent time at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 in the lineup.  The most of his matches has come from No. 3 and he has an 8-8 mark, but has fallen in his last two.  Lamar has also struggled to find a rhythm in doubles using 11 different team combinations with Laitinen and Michael Feucht having the most success with an 11-3 record.

Match time is set for 2 p.m.  After this match, the Privateers will remain at home to play Louisiana-Lafayette on Sunday, April 13.
