MONROE, La. – The New Orleans Privateers women's tennis team (6-8, 3-5 Southland) could not find a rhythm in a 5-2 loss to the surging Central Arkansas (11-9, 4-6 Southland) Bears on Friday afternoon at the Louisiana-Monroe tennis facility.
The match was played on neutral courts, as both teams found a way to make up the previous date due to inclement weather. The win for Central Arkansas was their fourth straight.
New Orleans lost the doubles point, but that wouldn't stop the dup of
Marta Sans and
Soledad Calderon Arroyo from taking the No. 1 doubles match 8-2. However, that was the only victory for any Privateer two-some.
Calderon Arroyo kept her momentum going in singles play, winning 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2 over Kelsey Williams. Like Calderon Arroyo, Sans tried to keep the energy found in doubles play, but eventually succumbed in three sets, 7-5, 4-6, 10-5 to Kristina Horsikyan at No. 3.
The only other Privateer have success in singles was Yasmine Rashad at the No. 6 spot. 6-2, 6-3.
New Orleans will travel to Southeastern on Sunday, April 13 for another Southland match. First serve is set for 12 p.m.
