FRISCO, Texas – The New Orleans Privateers women's tennis team had five selections on the Southland All-Academic Team which was released by the Southland Conference office on Monday.
Fleur Sprengers,
Kateryna Kalistratova,
Danique Vermue,
Nouray Khaled and
Ananya Dhankhar all made the squad after achieving high marks in the classroom which led to the team GPA of 3.938.
Sprengers earned Second Team All-Southland in singles as she began the season on a nine-match winning streak in singles and won nine of her first 13 doubles matches. She was 6-3 in conference including wins against McNeese, Northwestern State and UTRGV. Sprengers has a 3.95 cumulative GPA as a Chemistry major.
Kalistratova was an All-Southland selection in singles and went through the season with a 13-2 mark. She went 7-1 against conference foes and was 5-0 in matches decided in three sets. She earned her degree in Business Administration with a 3.31 GPA.
In her second season with the Privateers, Khaled won 13 combined matches between singles and doubles. Achieved a 4.0 GPA in the recently completed spring semester and has a 3.96 cumulative GPA as a Finance major.
Vermue made a big mark in doubles along with teammate,
Fleur Sprengers as the tandem combined for 10 overall wins. They won seven of their first eight matches paired together. Vermue has a 4.0 cumulative GPA as a Human Performance and Health Promotion major.
Dhankhar improved her win total from four victories total in her freshman year to 12 this season. She picked up conference singles victories against Northwestern State and Lamar. She has a 3.87 GPA as an English major.
With the selections this season, the women's tennis program has 17 Southland all-academic picks since joining the Southland in 2013-14.
