Privateers Improve Slightly on Day Two of Southland Championships

MAGNOLIA, Texas – The New Orleans Privateers women's golf team knocked a stroke off their team total in the second round of the Southland Conference Championships at the High Meadow Ranch Golf Club on Wednesday.

After shooting a 323 on the opening day of the tournament, the Privateers finished up Day Two with a collective score of 322. The biggest individual improvement came from Florence King. After shooting an 81 on the first day, King shaved three strokes off her second round total and finished up the day with a 78.

Brenda Gonzalez moved up a few spots after starting the day tied for 20th. Gonzalez shot a 5-over 77 on Wednesday, but was only one over on the back nine to move herself into a tie for 17th place overall. Pair Noibanchong followed up her 81 on Tuesday with the same score on Wednesday.

Rounding out the Privateers were Emily Pellerin who shot an 86 and Bridget Landry who finished the day with a 92. Lamar still leads the event after the second day with Oral Roberts moving from fifth to second after the best team round of the day at 297.

The final day of the Conference Championships take place on Thursday with a 7:30 a.m. start.
