MAGNOLIA, Texas – The New Orleans Privateers women's golf team shot a 324 in the final round of the Southland Conference Championships on Thursday at the High Meadow Ranch Golf Club on Thursday afternoon. New Orleans shot a team total of 965.
Brenda Gonzalez secured a top-20 finish by firing a final round 78. Gonzalez birdied the par-5 2nd, but had three straight bogeys on the back nine. Gonzalez also sunk a birdie on 13, and had four birdies total in the tournament.
Emily Pellerin and
Bridget Landry fired their best rounds of the tournament on Thursday. Pellerin fired an 81, five strokes better than her second round. Landry bounced back from a 92 on Wednesday to shave 10 strokes off her total round and land with an 82 on the final day.
Lamar took the title with a team score of 904. Oral Roberts wound up in second, six strokes adrift and Central Arkansas placed third with a team score of 920. Sarah Brown of Central Arkansas was the top individual with a three-round total of 219.
Also for the Privateers,
Pair Noibanchong shot an 83 for the day.
Florence King shot an 85, and finished with the second-highest total score at 244. Noibanchong shot a 245, and had the most birdies on the team throughout the three days with six. Four of those came in the opening round.
