Privateers Fall to NAIA Power Xavier


NEW ORLEANS, La. – The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team fell 5-4 at Xavier University on Thursday afternoon.

The Privateers (6-9) managed to only win one doubles match with the duo of Blake Gregor and Luis Albuquerque winning 8-5 at No. 2 over Tushar Mandlekar and Kevin Chaouat.  The Gold Rush (9-9) capitalized on the other two to have the advantage going into singles play.

In singles action, Albuquerque was the first to find a win for the Privateers, knocking off Adam Albrecht 6-4, 6-3 at No. 6.  Christoffer Appelgren followed suit with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Chaouat at No. 5, but the match had already been decided with five matches in favor of the Gold Rush.

Although the match was decided, Rui Silva and Jordan Harrell battled it out at No. 3 with Silva taking the 7-6, 5-7, 1-0 victory to close the match.
