Privateers Close Out Weekend With Sam Houston State

FIRST SERVE
The New Orleans Privateers volleyball team (17-13, 6-7 Southland) takes back to the floor on Saturday when they face the Sam Houston State Bearkats (12-15, 6-7) at the Human Performance Center. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
 
The Privateers are coming off their best match hitting percentage in Thursday's 3-0 win against Lamar. For the match, New Orleans hit .402 which included a second set attack percentage of .567. The Privateers were led offensively by Blessing Dunn who had 10 kills. Cara Sander and Rondolyn Bryant added nine each while Keke Irby and Kaitlyn Grice both posted seven kills.
 
With the home win on Thursday, the Privateers won their 11th home match of the season, putting them one away from tying a program record. The most home wins in a season was 12, which was accomplished in 2002 and duplicated in 2004.
 
Shaylene Reimer has posted more than 15 digs in five of her last six matches. Reimer recorded 20 digs on Thursday against Lamar and had nine just in the second set. Reimer is averaging 2.72 digs per set on the season and also is third in the conference in service aces. Over her last four matches, Reimer has posted 14 aces.
 
QUICK HITS

-New Orleans is aiming for their first six-game winning streak since pulling off an eight-game streak in 2009.
-Keke Irby has turned in attack percentages of .350 or higher in six of the last seven matches after hitting .538 in 13 attempts on Thursday.
-Since returning from injury on Oct. 8, Cara Sander has averaged 2.72 kills per set and has six matches with 10 or more kills in that span.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Sam Houston State enters the match after a 3-0 win over Southeastern. The Bearkats allowed the Lady Lions to hit just .050 for the match. It's the seventh time this season, Sam Houston State has held an opponent to an attack percentage under .100. On the year, Sam Houston State is third in the conference in opponent hitting percentage (.180).
 
Jordyn Vaughn racked up 14 kills in Thursday's win over Southeastern. It was the first time since her season-high 25 kills against Lamar on Oct. 13 that Vaughn went for double digits in kills in a match. Vaughn has 3.34 kills per set this season, which ranks tied for fourth in the Southland.
 
Brenda Gray is in the midst of her 32nd season as head coach at Sam Houston State. Gray has achieved 643 career wins and has two conference championships. Entering this season, Gray was 16th in the nation among active NCAA head coaches in wins.
 
The Bearkats have an undefeated record all-time against the Privateers (13-0). Just three of those meetings have taken place in New Orleans. The last time Sam Houston State visited New Orleans was in 1990.
