RESULTSNEW ORLEANS, La. – The New Orleans Privateer sand volleyball team made its long-awaited hometown-debut this Friday and Saturday, taking part in the Tulane Pelican Classic held at Coconut Beach.
The Privateers went 0-3 on the weekend, falling to Spring Hill, Mercer and the host team Green Wave.
In the opening-round match vs. Spring Hill, all five spots placed double-figure point totals in all 10 sets, Taylor Berry and
Camila Lau coming the closest to the win with 21-17, 21-19 sets.
During the rematch with Mercer the Privateers were again competitive, the No. 1 team of Celeste Ramirez and
Cara Sander nearly taking a set with 21-18, 21-12 losses.
The closing-match of the competition against Tulane saw the Privateers come close in the first three spots, falling 21-11, 21-33 at No. 1, 21-11, 21-10 at No. 2 and 21-13, 21-10 at No. 3
New Orleans is set to host UL-Monroe and North Florida this Wednesday, March 18 at Coconut Beach.
