NEW ORLEANS, La. – The New Orleans Privateers women's tennis team (8-6, 2-3) faces a non-conference test against the Bradley Braves (8-6, 0-0) on Wednesday at the University Tennis Center. The match is scheduled for a 12 p.m. start.
The Privateers were involved in their third decision by a 4-3 score line this season in the last outing, a loss to Central Arkansas. This season, the Privateers have lost two of three decisions by a 4-3 score, both on the road.
New Orleans is back at their home court where they have acquired a 6-1 mark this season with the only loss coming in a conference tilt against Nicholls.
Soledad Calderon Arroyo and
Marta Sans enter with an 8-1 record as the Privateers' top doubles tandem. Calderon and Sans won their doubles match on Sunday against Central Arkansas to move their winning streak to five.
Hafsa Laraibi has won three straight matches in mostly dominating fashion. After dropping only two games in singles victories against Lamar and Sam Houston State, Laraibi was extended in the first set of her match on Sunday, but wound up finishing off her opponent at 7-5, 6-1. Laraibi is 9-3 in singles head into Wednesday.
Bradley is coming from playing another Southland foe on Monday, falling 5-2 at Southeastern. The Braves are 2-5 away from home this season and are at the tail end of a stretch that included five of seven matches on the road. Bradley will face Southern on Tuesday before taking on the Privateers.
Ariel Dechter has won seven straight matches and has earned a 12-2 mark in spring. Dechter has played all 14 of her matches at the 2 position. Dechter has teamed with Irinka Toidze for an 8-2 mark in doubles, all at the 2 spot.
