Women's Tennis Wraps Up Regular Season at McNeese State

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The New Orleans Privateers women's tennis team (14-9, 4-6 Southland) will close the regular season on Sunday when they travel to Lake Charles to face the McNeese State Cowgirls (11-7, 7-3) on Sunday at the Nancy Hank Center.

The Privateers enter on a four-match winning streak and are looking to end the regular season on a strong note. Entering the last match, the Privateers are in a tie for sixth with Central Arkansas. Friday's win over Incarnate Word was New Orleans' fifth in which they took every point.

Yasmine Rashad comes in having won three straight as she and Hafsa Laraibi have anchored the back of the rotation during the winning streak. Rashad has also won five of her last six decisions in singles to improve her overall record to 13-7.

Laraibi picked up her 17th win in the dual against Incarnate Word. That is the third most wins by a Privateers women's tennis player in a single season since 2000. With her win on Friday, Laraibi surpassed Soledad Calderon Arroyo's 16-win spring which was achieved in 2012-13.

McNeese State comes in having won five of their last seven matches. The last outing was a narrow 4-3 victory over Southeastern on Friday. With the threat of rain, singles were played first. After the two sides were split, the Cowgirls took off to win the doubles point and clinch the victory.

Julia Kral has been the Cowgirls' most effective singles player this season. Kral has turned in a 12-4 mark with 11 wins coming at the 2 position. In Friday's dual against Southeastern, Kral played at the top position and narrowly lost to Renee Villarreal, falling in a third set tiebreak. In doubles, Kral and Hannah Brett have gone 9-3.
