Men's Tennis Falls at Lamar, Will Be 3-Seed in Southland Tournament

BEAUMONT, Texas
– The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team (10-10, 3-2 Southland) was held in check, falling 6-1 to the Lamar Cardinals (13-10, 5-1) on Sunday afternoon at the Thompson Family Tennis Center.
 
The Privateers got a doubles victory from Blake Gregor and Rui Silva who ran to an 8-2 decision. However, New Orleans lost both of the surrounding doubles matches and dropped the first point of the day to the Cardinals.
 
In singles, Silva provided the only Privateers point of the day. Silva coasted to a 6-1 first set score line. After dropping the second set 6-4, Silva came out on the front end of an 11-9 decision. Silva closed the year on a four-match winning streak in singles.
 
The Cardinals took four of the remaining five matches in straight sets. The only other match to go to three sets was at the 6 position. Giacomo Adoncecchi won the first set of his match 6-2, but dropped the next two sets 6-2, 7-6.

The two teams will re-match in the conference tournament on Saturday at 2 p.m.
