DAY 1 | DAY 2 BATON ROUGE, La. – The New Orleans sand volleyball team put its inaugural season to rest on Sunday afternoon, completing a two-day competition at the LSU Battle on the Bayou.
The Privateers played five matches during the weekend competition at the Mango Grove Volleyball Club, taking losses against tough foes from around the region.
New Orleans opened up play against the host team LSU on Saturday morning, going down 5-0 with all five pairs hitting double-digit set points in at least one of two sets,
Lauren Levy and
Brooklyn Frank coming closest to a set win in their 21-6, 21-17 loss.
In a 5-0 loss to ULM following the LSU match, Frank and Levy again came close, slipping 21-14 and 21-16 with Taylor Berry and Celeste Ramirez (21-10, 21-13) at No. 3 and
Kelsea Hundtoft and
Camila Lau (21-11, 21-11) at No. 4 playing tight sets as well.
The Privateers wrapped-up day one against a familiar opponent in Tulane, the Green Wave taking the 5-0 as Frank and Levy showed up strong once more with a 21-18, 21-18 loss.
Starting off day two the Privateers took part in their closest match of the season, playing to a one-point match in a 3-2 loss to Spring Hill College. The No. 1 team of
Cara Sander and Mikayla Wiebe took home a 22-20, 21-15 match win while Lau and Hundtoft won at the No. 4 spot, 21-18, 21-17.
New Orleans then ended the weekend with a 5-0 loss to South Carolina.
