NEW ORLEANS – Five Privateers won their singles matches in straight sets and the University of New Orleans women's tennis team (10-4) cruised to a 6-1 victory over the Arkansas State Red Wolves on Saturday at the University Tennis Center.

The Privateers started the day with a strong performance in doubles.
Anna Segarra Rius and
Soledad Calderon Arroyo swept to a 6-0 victory at No. 1 doubles.
Anja Luethi and
Trang Dao sealed the first point with a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles.

In singles, UNO kept the ball rolling with five straight set victories and a host of dominant performances. Calderon was among those after she registered a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles over Arkansas State's Victoria Roberts.

Luethi and
Hafsa Laraibi had similar score lines in their respective wins. Luethi finished off a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles. Laraibi meanwhile finished off a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Sofia Krsmanovic. The Privateers also got singles wins from
Trang Dao and
Brittany Johnson at No. 4 and No. 6 singles respectively.

The lone Red Wolf to post a point was at No. 1 singles. Julie Gauguery won 6-3 in the first set and took a tiebreak in the third set after Segarra won the second set 6-1.

The Privateers will face Southeastern in Hammond on Sunday. The match is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
