BATON ROUGE, La. – A weather delayed start to day two of the David Toms Intercollegiate at the University Club of Baton Rouge did not stop the University of New Orleans from improving by 13 strokes as the club shot a 312 Saturday. The results were final as the third round was not played due to impending weather/Hurricane Nate.
On the day, the Privateers placed 12
th and finished 13
th overall (637), one stroke behind Nicholls State University.
The winner was host and No. 6 ranked LSU, who shot 11-under as a team overall (565). There was a three-way tie individually between the University of Central Arkansas' Lewis George, and LSU's Jacob Bergeron and No. 45 Luis Gagne. The trio completed the 36 holes four-under par. Bergeron, Trey Winstead and Philip Barbaree of the host Tigers and Louisiana Tech University's Joacim Ahlund shot 69's to lead day two finishers after George and Andrew Hudson of the University of North Texas led day one with a 68.
Parker Johnson and
Homero de Toledo led New Orleans with a 157 after de Toledo improved by five strokes on day two (76).
Nolan Lambert saw a seven-stroke improvement with a 78 to tie Johnson's day two number after PJ posted a 79 yesterday.
Brady Bennett cut his numbers by three Saturday (80).
NEXT UP
The Privateers will spend Halloween at the James S. Litz Memorial in San Antonio. The two-day tourney (October 30-31) will take place at The Republic Golf Club.
