NEW ORLEANS – A busy Saturday featured a split for the University of New Orleans women's tennis team as the Privateers blanked Loyola University 5-0 in the morning before falling just short against Lamar University 3-2 on day two of the George E. Fourmaux Fed Cup Invitational. The morning match was played at Oak Knoll Country Club with the battle versus Southland Conference foe Lamar taking place on the Southeastern Tennis Courts.
Lea Alguacil made quick work of Miranda Cano, winning 6-2, 6-0 in a match that saw
Claudette Gilhespie and
Mar Gendra pick up singles victories.
Trang Dao and
Anja Luethi went 2-0 in doubles play and
Brittany Johnson and
Yurina Asai split as a tandem Saturday.
