HAMMOND, La. – The University of New Orleans ended its fall on a high note, taking three singles flights to defeat host and Southland Conference rival Southeastern Louisiana University 3-2 Sunday on the Southeastern Tennis Courts. The win improved the Privateers record to 3-1 in the George E. Fourmaux Fed Cup Invitational, good for a third-place finish.
Claudette Gilhespie made quick work in her flight, defeating Fleur Holtkamp 6-2, 6-0.
Brittany Johnson followed with a close victory 7-6, 7-5 and
Yurina Asai edged out Ceci Mercier in a marathon match 6-3, 7-6 (13-11).
