Pittsburgh- The University of New Orleans women's basketball team will get its first taste of playing on the road when they travel to Pittsburgh to face the University of Pittsburgh, Friday, Nov. 9, at the Petersen Events Center at 3 p. m.
New Orleans (1-0) is fresh off a season-opening victory of Centenary College of Louisiana, 104-42, while Pitt (0-1) is looking to crack the win column after dropping their season opener at home to Central Florida, 61-58.
In the win over the Ladies of Centenary, UNO saw three players reach career-highs in points. Sophomore
Jada Duncantell led the way with 18 points and 7 assists. Junior guard
Alyssa Quixley came off the bench to net her career-best with 16 points and junior center
Whitley Larry notched he career-high 14 points and grabbed 9 rebounds.
The Privateers blew the game open with a 26-8 advantage in the second period and they held Centenary to only five points in the third quarter.
Nearly everyone got into the act for New Orleans as senior center
Shania Woods had 12 points and freshman guard
Traya Bruce had a double-double with 10 points and 11 assists.
Meanwhile, the Panthers out of the Atlantic Coast Conference are searching for their first victory of the season. In the defeat at the hands of Central Florida, senior Aysia Bugg led Pitt in scoring with 14 points. Last season the Panthers registered a 10-20 mark overall and 2-14 in Atlantic Coast Conference play.
In the victory over Centenary,
Dionjhae Thomas, a sophomore from Thibodaux, Louisiana led the Privateers with six steals. Two freshmen made major contributions, as
Traya Bruce of Cut Off, Louisiana tallied a double-double with 10 points and 11 assists. Bruce had a game-high 26 points in an exhibition win for UNO over West Alabama.
Jana Thomas-Reid, a freshman from Houston, Texas, came off the bench and contributed 8 points and 8 rebounds.

The Privateers will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 17, at Lakefront Arena against Trinity Baptist. Tip-off is set for 2 p. m.
