Box Score Natchitoches, La. – The New Orleans Privateers women's tennis team (7-6, 1-3) saw a road weekend come to an end with a 6-1 loss to the Northwestern State Lady Demons (10-5, 6-0) on Sunday at the Jack Fisher Lady Demon Complex.
The Privateers were overwhelmed in doubles to start the day. Northwestern State took a pair of 6-0 decisions at flight one and three to earn the first point of the day. The Lady Demons' top tandem of Polina Mutel and Polina Ivanova pulled off one of the victories to move their record to 10-2.

Claudette Gilhespie battled at flight two and trailed 4-2 when the point was decided.
In singles, Northwestern State continued their momentum and won every long set at the start. The first win came at flight two, a 6-3, 6-2 victory.
Anja Luethi took the loss and saw her four-match singles winning streak snapped.
Northwestern State moved the score to 3-0 with a win at flight six in singles. The match was clinched in the Lady Demons' favor when Judit Castillo took a 6-4, 6-4 victory at flight five. The win extended Northwestern State's streak to six.
The only point for the Privateers came at flight three. Gilhespie lost the first set in a tiebreak to Emilija Dancetovic. However, Gilhespie rallied back to dominate the second set 6-2. The third set tiebreak was pushed a little farther, but Gilhespie prevailed with an 11-9 decision to move her record in singles to 4-2 overall.
The Privateers will continue their road swing when they head to Thibodaux to take on Nicholls on Tuesday. The match is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.
