New Orleans Goes 2-0 Saturday, Advances to Championship Sunday

Privateers defeated TAMUCC 3-2 and Central Arkansas 3-0

HOUSTON – The University of New Orleans (8-17) remained hot at the Southland Conference Beach Volleyball Showcase Saturday, defeating Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi 3-2 and the University of Central Arkansas 3-0 to advance to the championship at Third Coast Volleyball Club. Tomorrow's opponent will be the winner of Houston Baptist University/University of Central Arkansas.
 
For the second consecutive day, Rachel Kuhn and Veronica Corcoran won two matches as the duo upended the Islanders 21-12, 21-15 and the Sugar Bears 21-12, 21-17 at No. 2. Maxine Walsh and Ally Carr went 2-0 at No. 5 with a 21-18, 23-21 thriller in the win over the Ders and a DQ win over UCA.
 
NEW ORLEANS DEFEATS TEXAS A&M-CORPUS CHRISTI 3-2
Walsh and Carr went back and forth at No. 5 but ended victorious, sending the Privateers to the top flights tied at 1-1 with the 21-18, 23-21 win. At No. 2, Veronica Corcoran and Kuhn eased their way to a win to knot the match at 2-2 and Kaitlyn Grice and Jordan Schumacher clinched the third win of the Southland Beach Showcase for UNO with a 21-16, 21-17 victory at No. 3 as the Privateers defeated the Islanders 3-2.
 
NEW ORLEANS DEFEATS CENTRAL ARKANSAS 3-0
Walsh and Carr automatically took No. 5 via DQ and Blessing Dunn and Brianna Vega made it 2-0 UNO with a 21-17, 21-19 victory at No. 4. The duo of Veronica Corcoran and Kuhn clinched the win for the Privateers and a spot in the championship match with a 21-12, 21-17 dominance at No. 2.
