Baseball to Take on Incarnate Word in Southland Conference Match-Up

NEW ORLEANS – After a non-conference weekend test against Texas, the University of New Orleans (18-25, 7-11) steps back into conference play when they welcome the University of Incarnate Word (25-17, 10-8 Southland) to Maestri Field. Friday's game is set for 6:30 p.m., Saturday is at 2 p.m., and Sunday is set for a 1 p.m. start.

ABOUT NEW ORLEANS
Beau Bratton (14) and
Pearce Howard (10) extended their hitting streaks last time out against UL- Lafayette. Bratton's current hitting streak is second in the conference behind UIW's Ryan Flores who is currently on a 15 game hitting streak.
Owen Magee's 61 hits on the season is third in the Conference. He also leads the ball club with a .339 batting average with four homers, three triples, 13 doubles, 25 runs scored, and 27 ribbies.

Lefty starter
Bryan Warzek is tied for the conference lead in strikeouts with 88. In program history, Warzek is tied for ninth with 221 career strikeouts.
Rafe Schindler has been stingy on the mound holding opponents to a .130 batting average.

Cody Ducote returned to the lineup on Wednesday and parked his sixth home run of the season against the Ragin' Cajuns. Ducote co-leads the team along with Howard in round trippers.

The Privateers have four conference weekends left and enter this series tied for eighth. Of the four opponents remaining, three are currently ahead of New Orleans in the standings.

ABOUT INCARNATE WORD
The Cardinals have five batters over the .300 mark: Eddy Gonzalez (.386), Ryan Flores (.374) and 15 game hitting streak), Ridge Rogers (.348), Kyle Bergeron (.346), and Lee Thomas (.310). Incarnate Word leads the Southland in team batting average and on-base percentage.
The Cardinals are led by first year head coach, Patrick Hallmark who came over from Missouri last season. Hallmark also spent 11 years as an assistant at his alma mater, Rice. Hallmark was named the fourth coach in UIW history last July.

Orynn Veillon finished 6-for-13 in the series with a home run, and six RBI. Warzek started the second game of the series and allowed one run over 6.0 innings while striking out five.
