Privateers Compete At Bearkat Invitational

Montgomery, Texas- The University of New Orleans golf team had its final competition before the Southland Conference Championship at the Bearkat Invitational at Walden, Monday and Tuesday, at Walden on Lake Conroe in Montgomery, Texas.

New Orleans finished seventh in team results shooting 70-over par 934.

Sophomore Max Hellstrom shot the low-score for the Privateers, 9-over 225 over 54 holes and two days.  His second round 2-under par 70 was the lowest round turned in by a Privateer golfer.

Brady Bennett, a freshman from Zachary, Louisiana, shot a 4-over 76 during the third and final round and finished at 17-over 233. 

Jackson Smith shot a three-round total 237, 21-over par, Ulisses de Toledo finished the tournament at 24-over, 240 and Homero de Toledo came in at 26-over 242.  Petter Salqvist, a senior, competed as an individual and finished the tourney at 45-over, 261.

Host school Sam Houston State finished atop the team leaderboard.

Up next for UNO, the Southland Conference Championship, April 23-25, at Stonebridge Ranch Country Club in McKinney, Texas.
