#RV Beach Volleyball Ends Season in Semifinals

COVINGTON, La. – #RV University of New Orleans (15-13) concluded the best season in its history Saturday with a semifinal's appearance in the Southland Showcase at Digs Volleyball Complex.
 
The Privateers forced three sets in three flights (exhibition, No. 3 and No. 4).
 
TAMUCC took a 1-0 lead with a 21-14, 21-8 victory at No. 5 and Veronica Corcoran and Rachel Kuhn began with a 8-3 lead but the Islanders took the top flight 22-20, 21-15.
 
Brianna Vega and Blessing Dunn kept it close in the second flight but No. 2 A&M-Corpus Christi clinched a trip to the championship with a 21-19, 21-15 win over No. 3 UNO.
 
Victoria Corcoran and Ally Carr erased a 21-14 setback in the opening set at No. 3 to win in dominating fashion 21-12. The three-set thriller went back and forth before TAMUCC squeaked past the pair 15-12.
 
At No. 4, Ehize Omoghibo and Alexa Spartz won a marathon opening set 23-21, but Kylie Kvam and Brooke Adkisson rallied to win in three.
 
In the exhibition, Maxine Walsh and Raegan Rozas traded points with Demi McInnis and Naomi Overstreet as TAMUCC's duo took the opener 24-22 before UNO won the second set 25-23.
 
ABOUT THE SEASON
Veronica Corcoran and Kuhn became the first pair to win 20 flights for UNO. The duo went 20-6 at No. 1 and closed the year 8-2. Carr and Victoria Corcoran were 14-8 overall as a duo and 7-3 in their last 10 flights. Ally and Victoria finished with 16 victories apiece.
 
Rhyan Rand and Madison Miller combined for 14 wins, Dunn and Vega followed with 12 and Spartz finished with 11.
 
Miller and Dunn became seniors No. 2 and No. 3 to play four seasons of beach volleyball on the Lakefront.
