Women’s Basketball Community Service Update: Blessed to Be a Blessing Annual Backpack Extravaganza & Giving Hope NOLA

NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans women's basketball team dressed up in Disney costumes, painted faces and donated blood at the 2019 Blessed to Be a Blessing Annual Backpack Extravaganza and Blood Drive.

Held at the St. John Community Center in LaPlace, the Privateers were excited to participate in the annual event that gives away free backpacks, school supplies and hygiene kits to 1,000 children. The event included food, health screenings, haircuts, resources and many more.
 
The Privateers also volunteered at Giving Hope NOLA, providing food to those in need in the community. The mission of Giving Hope NOLA; "To give glory to God and to promote human dignity. Through the tireless efforts of our staff, WBB Snowballvolunteers, and corporate partners, we feed, clothe, house, and provide fellowship to those in need in our community and around the world."
