FRISCO, Texas – The calendars are being marked. The now 2021 Southland schedule, which encompasses 12 matches was released by the conference on Monday afternoon. The season starts for the New Orleans Privateers on Feb. 2.
THE ROAD AHEAD
The Privateers open with road matches at Lamar and Nicholls in the first week of competition. It sets the tone for five of the first seven conference matches which take place away from the Human Performance Center.
New Orleans returns home for matches against Sam Houston State and HBU on Feb. 11 & 13 respectively. A three-match road swing at Stephen F. Austin, Central Arkansas and McNeese follows.
The home heavy back end of the conference slate starts on Mar. 13 against Abilene Christian. Home tilts against UIW, A&M-Corpus Christi, and Southeastern follow. The regular season finishes on Mar. 25 at Northwestern State.

ON THE SCHEDULE
"It definitely gives us more specific opportunities to set goals for the spring and a focus on what we need to do. At least we have the framework to establish some timelines for our goals and to be erady for the spring."
ON A ROAD HEAVY START
"Obviously having to play on the road will present challenges but I don't think being on the road for that length of time will be a huge problem. I think just having the opportunity to compete even though we'll be all over the place will be exciting in itself."
ON RETURNERS
"It's nice to see our freshmen who had opportunities to play a lot of season they're playing like upper classmen. I think we have great balance and depth on our roster along with a level of competitiveness at each position."
ADDITIONAL INFO
The Southland Tournament will take place at the site of the top seed and will be played between Apr. 2-3. The NCAA Tournament will run from Apr. 8-25.
