NEW ORLEANS – New Orleans basketball begins 2021 on the road as Southland Conference play gets underway Saturday, January 2. The basketball programs are taking on SFA in the newly renovated Johnson Coliseum on ESPN+. The women tip off at 2 p.m. with the men following at 4:30 p.m.
MEN'S BASKETBALL
Men's basketball (1-7) last competed in Rice on December 21. The Privateers were tabbed to finish eighth in the league and begin SLC play against the preseason favorite Lumberjacks. SFA (3-2) has not played a game since December 12 due to COVID-19 protocols. SFA is 3-0 at home.
Troy Green was named LSWA and Southland Player of the Week on December 14. Green currently ranks fourth in scoring (15.9), third in free throw percentage (78.9%), fifth in minutes per game (33.0) and sixth in shooting percentage (47.9 percent) in the Southland entering the New Year.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
The Privateers (3-3) are on a two-game win streak heading into league play. Sophomore guard
Mary Delgado is coming off a career-high 21 points in the win over Alcorn State December 22.
Mia Deck clinched the game with a three in the closing seconds.
New Orleans was picked to finish seventh while SFA enters 2021 as the preseason favorite.
