Beach VB Goes 2-0 Saturday, Improve to 5-1 in 2020

SEASON STATISTICS

MIAMI –
 New Orleans clinched its best start to a season with a 3-2 victory over Missouri State and 5-0 sweep vs. Florida Memorial Saturday at the FIU Beach Volleyball Courts.
 
The Privateers are now 5-1 on the young 2020 campaign leading into the New Orleans Invitational at Digs Volleyball Complex in Covington. New Orleans closed out the FIU Beach Invite 3-1.
 
INSIDE THE BOX
Veronica Corcoran and Lucie Pokorna won both at No. 1 Saturday and are 5-1 from the top flight this year. Victoria Corcoran and Ally Carr have an identical record at No. 2 in 2020.
 
Making her season debut this week in the Sunshine State, Rachel Kuhn was paired with Brianna Vega Saturday and went 2-0 from No. 3.

The Privateers rallied from a 2-0 deficit to take No. 2 27-25, 21-17 and tie the match at 2-all following Vega and Kuhn's 22-20, 21-19 triumph at No. 3.
 
Pokorna and Veronica Corcoran erased a set one loss (16-21) to clinch the win for UNO 21-16, 15-8, over Missouri State.

2. Victoria Corcoran/Ally Carr (UNO) def. Fatima Rajaee/Adriana Soto (FMU) 21-13, 21-12
3. Rachel Kuhn/Brianna Vega (UNO) def. Jazmin Molina/Biancaliz Cruz (FMU) 21-9, 21-12
4. Trinity Jackson/Maxine Walsh (UNO) def. Alanis Santana/Francheska Rivera (FMU) 21-17, 21-16
5. Alexa Spartz/Chloe Hampton (UNO) def. Azmabeth Infante/Keisha SantanaRoldan (FMU) 21-13, 21-12
 
A dominating performance at all pairs, New Orleans blanked Florida Memorial 5-0. Alexa Spartz and Chloe Hampton got things started with a 21-13, 21-12 victory at No. 5, followed by Trinity Jackson and Maxine Walsh's 21-17, 21-16 win at No. 4.
 
The match dub was sealed by Kuhn and Vega's 21-8, 21-12 win at No. 3, but the sweep was complete with Victoria Corcoran and Carr taking No. 2 21-13, 21-12 and Veronica Corcoran and Pokorna earning the top flight win 21-15, 21-15.
 
NEXT UP
The Privateers host the New Orleans Invitational Friday and Saturday at Digs in Covington.
