NEW ORLEANS – New Orleans (7-3) entered the 2020 campaign with high hopes as a mix of veteran student-athletes and highly-touted freshmen/transfers looked to lead the Privateers in year No. 6 as a program. Concluding the 2019 season receiving national votes in the AVCA poll, New Orleans returned its winningest seniors in
Veronica Corcoran and
Rachel Kuhn.
The inaugural season of beach volleyball in the Southland Conference featured
Veronica Corcoran and
Lucie Pokorna receive Pair of the Week honors. The duo went 8-2 at the top flight, and
Ally Carr and
Victoria Corcoran went 7-3 at No. 2.
After returning from injury, Kuhn teamed with
Brianna Vega for a 5-1 mark at No. 3.
FROM MILLICENT VAN NORDEN
"We were off to a fast start, said head coach
Millicent Van Norden. "This is the strongest overall team we've have. We didn't have to rely on the same pairs to win. The senior leadership/four-year competitors for us was a contributing factor in our success.
Our season ended on a high note, and we look forward to continue to build the team, win a Southland championship and earn national votes."
