NEW ORLEANS – Another day another honor for the 2019-20 edition of Privateer Golf as the Southland office announced senior
Max Hellstrom was on the All-Academic First team this morning.
The honor marks back-to-back first team All-Academic selections for Hellstrom and makes him the first Privateer golfer to earn All-Academic status from the league more than once since UNO joined the league prior to the 2013-14 season.
After taking 21 hours in the fall the senior graduated in December earning his degree in Business Administration with a cumulative GPA of 3.71. Max was named a Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-American Scholar prior to the start of the year and qualifies to for the honor again this summer.
On the course Hellstrom participated in all four tournaments during the fall before graduating - averaging 73.818 with 30 birdies. His best finish was ninth-place in the rain-shortened TVA Community Credit Union Invitational where he shot a 145 over two rounds. During the event he had the best round of his semester, shooting a 72 during the first round and led the tournament by making 27 pars over 36 holes.
