NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans golf team will wrap up the first half of its season with a quick trip to Mathews, La. for the LaTOUR Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday.
Tom Watson and
Matthew Lotz have both finished inside the top 25 in each of the last two tournaments. Watson is averaging 71.67 this season, while Lotz is averaging 71.50. Watson has recorded six rounds under par this season; Lotz has four.
New Orleans' score of 860 — good for a third-place finish — at last year's LaTOUR Intercollegiate is the program's lowest team score and highest placement at the event.
Kyle Bennett tied for third with a score of 211 at the 2023 LaTOUR Intercollegiate — the best individual finish and lowest score by a Privateer at the tournament.
As a team, the Privateers are averaging 290.75 over the first four tournaments of the season, putting them on pace for the third-lowest scoring average by the program since 1992.
FORMAT
The teams will play 36 holes of golf on Monday, and 18 on Tuesday. Both days will feature the shotgun format with tee times at 7:45 a.m.
The following schools are confirmed to compete in the event:
Nicholls State (hosts), East Texas A&M, Houston Christian, Incarnate Word, Jackson State, Loyola (New Orleans), Midland College, Prairie View A&M, Spring Hill College, South Dakota, Southern (Baton Rouge), Southeastern, and Texas Southern.
New Orleans will be paired with Nicholls, Houston Christian, and Incarnate Word on Monday.
