BATON ROUGE, La. – The New Orleans track & field program had one of its best collective meets in recent memory as the Privateers set a new school record and numerous personal bests at LSU's Louisiana Invite at the Carl Maddox Field House on Friday.

NOTABLES
- Shanell Atkins went off in the women's weight throw as she set a new school and personal record with a best toss of 18.40m (60-4.5). The mark leads the Southland Conference and slots in at No. 43 in the nation in all of NCAA Division I. She also placed third in the shot at 13.75m (45-1.5), a mark that sits sixth overall in the conference.
- Arina Kleschukova returned to the track for the first time this season and went ahead and ran the second-best time in the women's mile in program history as she posted a 5:00.86 performance. The time ranks in at No. 64 in the country and tops the Southland.

Alec Snell continued the strong start to his 2021 indoor campaign as he placed third in the men's 800-meter dash with a 1:53.49 showing. The performance ranks second overall in the event in the conference and No. 24 in all of NCAA DI.
- Ismael Kone welcomed himself to New Orleans in a big way as he posted a new personal best of 6.87 in the 60-meter, an event he advanced all the way to the finals in to take sixth overall. The new personal record ranks fifth overall in the Southland Conference.
- Freshman Jaden Forrester had an impressive showing as he took second overall in the men's mile at 4:19.97. The mark ranks third in the conference.

Harrison Coleman took gold in the men's 400-meter dash with a 7.26. The performance ranks eighth so far on the season in the Southland.

Matthew Christy had a great showing in the shot put as he set a new personal best of 13.90m (45-7.25) which ranks eighth-best in the Southland.

Ja'Lyric Giles had a strong day as she finished 13
th overall in the 60 (won her prelim at 7.84) and fourth in the 200 (26.58). Her 60 time ranks 10
th in the Southland while her 200 mark slots in at 12
th.
- The men's 3000-meter duo of Koyln Saltzman and
David Hidalgo won the event with times of 8:47.00 and 8:48.73, respectively. Saltzman now ranks seventh in the Southland while Hidalgo comes in at eighth overall.
- New Orleans posted one school record and 18 personal bests on the day.

New Orleans student-athletes will get a week off from competition before the Privateers return for the Samford Invitational No. 2 that runs Friday, Feb. 12 through Saturday, Feb. 13 at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Al.
