NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers will close down their road slate for the 2021 regular season this week when they face the UIW Cardinals and the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders. The Privateers will face UIW at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday and the Islanders on Saturday at 1 p.m.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-The Privateers are third in the league in digs per set at 15.6. Individually,
Sheilah Purcell is at 4.86 digs per set. Purcell had 52 digs last week in two matches and has five matches of 20 or more digs this season.
-
Maxine Walsh has moved up to fourth in the Southland in blocks per set at 1.03. Walsh has piled up 12 blocks over the last three matches.
-Two more Privateers appear in the top ten in blocks per set in the conference:
Sh'Diamond Holly (sixth) and
Atira Jells (ninth).
-New Orleans will finish out the regular season at home before heading to the Southland Conference Tournament in Houston. The Privateers will have a three-match homestand against HBU, McNeese and Nicholls.
ANALYZING THE OPPONENTS
-UIW is a half game behind Northwestern State for fifth spot in the conference.
-Bethany Clapp is top three in the league in kills per set and service aces per set.
-Texas A&M-Corpus Christi suffered their first conference loss on Saturday at HBU.
-Carissa Barnes has 440 digs in 68 sets played this season and is averaging 6.47 digs per set.
-The Islanders have the best team hitting percentage in the Southland at .232.
