PENSACOLA, Fla. – A contingent of five women helped the New Orleans Privateers sweep the board while
Dhruv Tangri took doubles and singles wins on the men's side at the UWF Fall Fling this weekend hosted by West Florida.
TANGRI TAKES TWO
A true freshman, Tangri ran through three matches in singles, starting with a win over Austin Schofield of Mobile. He then defeated Luke Racine of West Florida in the semifinals.
In doubles, Tangri teamed up with fellow newcomer,
David Tesic to roll through the doubles draw in flight three. In the final, Tangri and Tesic scored a 6-2 victory over Enzo Bomfim Silveira and Bernardo Costa of West Florida.
WOMEN SWEEP THE BOARD
Not only did Privateers take both flights of singles and doubles but all three flights featured an all-UNO final.
Lina Hohnhold and
Lea Alguacil won the doubles draw over
Mar Gendra and
Marthe Degeorges. In singles, Alguacil defeated
Estelle Vanthier in a third set tiebreak in flight two. Hohnhold topped Degeorges, who made her Privateer debut, in flight one.
NOTABLES
Espen Lagarde and
Luke Joujan both made the finals in flight two and three respectively. Lagarde took his opponent to a third set tiebreak.
Marcel Volz,
Max Heinzel and
Matthew Armbruster also all competed. Heinzel had to retire from his semifinal while Armbruster also made the semifinals in his flight.

"West Florida a top three program in Division II on the men's side. They have so much depth. On the men's side we have a lot of depth and it's going to be interesting to see what happens as we start the spring. If we're healthy this team can do a lot of good things."
