NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans track & field program is back for its third and final regular-season meet of the indoor season as the Privateers travel to Birmingham, Ala. for the Samford Invitational No. 2 on Friday, Feb. 12 at the Birmingham Crossplex.
Field events will get the day underway at 10 AM CT while the track portion of the schedule begins at 11 AM.
New Orleans is coming off one of the best meets in recent memory as the team set one school record and 18 personal bests at the LSU Louisiana Invite back on Friday, Jan. 29.
Shanell Atkins was the top standout as she was named the Southland Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week after she rewrote the school record with a toss of 18.40m (60-04.50) in the weight throw.
The men's team is ranked 24th while the women's squad comes in at 22nd in the South Central Region according to the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Regional Track & Field Rating Index.

This will be the final regular-season meet for the Privateers during indoors as the Southland Championships are set for Sunday, Feb 28 through Monday, March 1 at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Ala.
