DIAMONDHEAD – The final round of the 2021 Gulf Coast Collegiate was cancelled due to heavy rain in the Diamondhead on Tuesday afternoon. With most teams having two or three holes left to play the decision was made to stop play around 12:30 p.m. and finalize the tournament at the first 36 holes.
The Privateers finished in fourth-place with a two-round score of 597. New Orleans finished ahead of fellow Southland Conference members Central Arkansas (600), Stephen F. Austin (610) and Nicholls (636).
Individually the Privateers had a pair of top 10 finishers in Diamondhead for the second year in a row –
Grayson Gilbert finished tied for fifth with a score of 145, while
Florian Moosmeier finished tied for seventh at 146.
Southeastern and UT-Martin tied for the event Championship with team scores of 589, while Central Arkansas's Nate Jolly took home the individual crown after shooting a four-under par 140.
Next up for Privateer Golf is a trip to the Augusta Pines Golf Club in Spring, Texas for the Colin Montgomerie Invitational hosted by HBU on March 8-9.
HEAD COACH JEFF LORIO
"I'm disappointed that the weather wouldn't cooperate but that happens at times. I want to thank Diamondhead Country Club for once again being a great host for this event. Even though it was a wet one outside all of the teams were very happy with the facility and the tournament."
