LAFAYETTE, La. – It was another record-setting day for the New Orleans track & field program as
Alec Snell took down the top mark in school history in the men's 1,500-meter and numerous Privateers added their times among the Southland Conference and nation's best as UNO concluded the Louisiana Classics on Saturday.

Alec Snell continues to get better and better each time he touches the track this breakout season as the sophomore went off for a 3:52.97 to take the victory in the men's 1,500m race. The mark is a new personal best and currently sits fifth overall in the Southland and 48th in all of NCAA DI track & field. The performance broke a school record that sat for nearly 23 years as Snell passed Mike Hancock who ran a 3:53.42 back at the 1998 Sun Belt Championships on May 10, 1998. Snell also added a third-place finish in the 800m with a mark of 1:54.90 (fifth in the conference).
- Making her long-awaited UNO outdoor debut,
Arina Kleshchukova took second overall in the women's 1,500m as she posted a personal best time of 4:34.98. The mark currently ranks second overall in the Southland and 58th in NCAA DI. It is also the sixth-best time ever ran in the event in program history.
- With the two standouts covered, the rest of the New Orleans field in the 1,500m races also put on a show as every Privateer that ran set a new personal record in the event.
Cade Litolff joined only a handful of Privateers to ever break four minutes on the men's side, while
David Hidalgo,
Kolyn Saltzman,
Kristian Oatman,
Quentin Faulkner,
Julian Silva and
Alexander Soileau all posted new PRs. On the women's side,
Ariana Jimenez,
Anna Martin and
Amelia Bretz all PRed. All of the New Orleans times posted today in the event sit within the top-25 in the conference.

Ismael Kone finished seventh overall in the men's 100m dash with a 10.58 performance. The time slots fourth in the conference and 26th in the nation at the NCAA DI level. He now ranks fourth in the Southland in both the 100 and 200.
- Freshman
Jaden Forester ran to a second-place finish in the men's 800 as he posted a new personal best time of 1:54.90. The showing is ranked fourth in the conference in the event and 55th overall in NCAA DI.

Shamarah Shannon took fourth overall in the women's 400m dash after she ran a 58.63. The time is sixth-best mark posted in the event so far in the Southland.

Chandler Sullivan claimed fifth in the men's 3000m steeplechase after a 9:57.22 performance. The time is third in the conference and 21st nationwide at the DI level.
UP NEXT
It's a split week for the New Orleans track & field program as some of the group's standouts will head to Austin for the prestigious Texas Relays (Thursday, March 25 – Saturday, March 27) while the rest of the team will continue to build momentum at another top-notch meet with the Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays at Mississippi State (Friday, March 26 – Saturday, March 27).
