BATON ROUGE, La. – Ally Carr and Maxine Walsh were victorious on court two against Southern Miss (4-11) and Veronica Corcoran and Victoria Corcoran defeated HBU (3-13) in straight sets on court one Sunday at LSU Beach Volleyball Stadium, but New Orleans (3-8) fell to the Golden Eagles 4-1 and the Huskies 4-1 on the final day of the LSU Beach Invitational.

The Privateers played a close opening set at No. 2, 3 and 4 with Carr and Walsh upending Breleigh Favre and Olivia Hepworth 24-22 at the twos. Down 19-14 in the second set, Carr and Walsh rallied but fell just short (21-19), going to a third set, while Veronica and Victoria Corcoran dominated the second on court one 21-13 to force a tiebreaker.
 
The Corcoran twins led 14-11 but Kylie Grandy and Abbey Wilson escaped with the 16-14 win. Carr and Walsh looked exceptional in the third set on court two, clinching the court win 15-8, the pair's third win of the season.

The Corcoran twins finished the LSU Invitational 2-2 with a 21-17, 21-19 victory over the Huskies. Veronica and Victoria Corcoran led 13-7 in set two on court one and left the first of two tournament trips in Baton Rouge with the win.
 
Carr and Walsh forced a tiebreaker with a 21-13 win in set two on court two and traded points early in the third before HBU was able to secure the 15-11 win.
 
Madeline Drake and Liz Gialanella led 20-19 on court four but Mary Alper and Kristen Kleymeyer were able to rally and win 26-24, 21-18. Alexa Spartz and Brianna Vega kept it close on court three in set one (21-19).
 
NEXT UP
Midweek action awaits the Privateers with three matches in Hattiesburg Wednesday, March 24. New Orleans takes on host Southern Miss in a rematch at 10 a.m., Spring Hill at noon and Southeastern for the third time this season at 4 p.m.
