Jackson & Volpi, Hampton & Melerine Go 2-0 Monday

SEASON STATISTICS | GALLERY | SOUTHERN MISS BOX | SPRING HILL BOX | SOUTHEASTERN BOX

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Making their beach debuts after the indoor season ended, Trinity Jackson and Hannah Volpi went 2-0 at No. 5 and Chloe Hampton teamed with Hailey Melerine to win both exhibitions Monday at the Southern Miss Beach Courts. New Orleans (4-10) ended the day 1-2 but on a high note after a 4-1 (Southern Miss) and 3-2 (Spring Hill) setback, sweeping Southland rival Southeastern 4-0.

Jackson and Volpi played together just once last season – an exhibition (Feb. 28, 2020) versus No. 14 FIU. It was their first match since March 7 of last season when the season ended abruptly.

Melerine competed in her first beach match of 2021 and earned her second and third career victories as a Privateer. She and Hampton competed together just once last year (at FIU Feb. 28, 2020).

The win was the third over the Lady Lions this season.

Veronica Corcoran and Victoria Corcoran went 2-1 at No. 1.
