BATON ROUGE, La. – New Orleans (6-13) ended the LSU Battle on the Bayou with a 3-2 victory over Central Arkansas Saturday evening. The Privateers went 1-2 on the day with a 5-0 setback to No. 4 LSU and 4-1 to Spring Hill.
Veronica Corcoran and
Victoria Corcoran posted their 10
th and 11
th wins of the season with a 21-15, 21-16 victory at the top dual against the Badgers and a come from behind win over the Sugar Bears.
Maxine Walsh and
Ally Carr made it 1-0 UNO against UCA with a 21-18, 21-17 win at No. 2, and
Alexa Spartz and
Madeline Drake followed with a 21-19, 21-17 victory at No. 4. The Corcoran twins clinched the win for the Privateers at No. 1.
Brianna Vega and
Liz Gialanella took the opening set at No. 3 over UCA 21-19 and nearly upended the Sugar Bears in the third before the 20-18 loss.
Spring Hill rallied after
Trinity Jackson and
Hannah Volpi took the second set at No. 5 21-15 to clinch the match with a win on court five. Jackson and Volpi forced a third set at No. 5 vs. UCA.
Hailey Melerine and
Chloe Hampton took the opening set of the exhibition 24-22 and played close sets in the 22-20, 15-13 setback to SHC. Against the Sugar Bears, the duo won the second set 21-17 to force a third.
