NEW ORLEANS – The Privateers shot a 299 on Tuesday afternoon moving from 14
th place to 12
th place to finish the 2021 Huntsville Toyota Bearkat Invitational.
The team finished round three 17 strokes better than round two, with four Privateers improving their scores between the two rounds.
William Wargen led the way with a nine-stroke improvement, with
Grayson Gilbert right behind him with a seven-stroke improvement.
Florian Moosmeier improved by four strokes while
Lukas Heckmann improved by two.
Moosmeier, who finished tied for 25
th, had the best tournament for the Privateers with rounds of 73, 77, and 73. Flo' finished at even-par on par-four holes and was just one of seven golfers out of 83 to shoot par or better on those holes. He finished his weekend with 35 pars, and 10 birdies out of 54 holes.
Postseason play beings for the Privateers on April 26-28 when they travel to McKinney, Texas, and the Stonebridge and Ranch Country Club for the first Southland Championship Tournament since 2019. Fans can follow along on

NOTES
- No Privateer finished a round at par or better for the first time since the 2019 Southland Championship.
- Playing in just its second-ever tournament at Walden on Lake Conroe, the golf team finished four strokes worse than in 2019.
- Gilbert is the only Privateer to play in two Bearkat Invitationals and improved his score by two strokes from his freshman year.
- Gilbert's streak of three straight top 20 finishes came to an end, he has now finished in the top 20 in seven of his last nine tournaments.

Nolan Lambert is the only other current team member to play in a Bearkat Invitational and did not participate in this year's event.
- The last time the Privateers did not have a top 20 finisher at an event was at the 2019 Bearkat Invitational when

th place to lead the squad.

We have two players in Grayson and Flo' that are ranked inside the top eight in the Southland. When the guys figure out how to put it together with a great team effort, we are going to surprise a lot of people.
