McKINNEY – The New Orleans Privateers placed three individuals in the top 15 and shot a 314 – good for seventh place in the opening round of the Southland Conference Championship on Monday afternoon.
Brady Bennett,
Grayson Gilbert and
Florian Moosmeier all finished their day tied for 15
th after first round scores of 76 at Stonebridge Ranch Country Club.
Moosmeier opened his day par, birdie, birdie through the first three holes and shot a one under on the front nine to pace the Privateers in the morning. Following a shot into the water, Flo had perhaps the most impressive shot of the day for the Privateers after finding the hole from about 180 yards away on hole six.
Gilbert, playing in the number two position for the first time this season, also started well with two birdies in his first three holes before shooting two-over par on both the front and back nine.
Bennett was able to recover from bogey, double bogey, bogey on holes 11-13 to finish with four pars and a birdie over his last holes.
The Privateers made par 43 times and sank nine birdies on the opening day of the Championship and their score of 314 matched their last round played at Stonebridge Ranch during the 2019 Southland Championship.
