NEW ORLEANS WBB 2021-22 SCHEDULE
NEW ORLEANS – New Orleans head women's basketball coach
Keeshawn Davenport revealed the 2021-22 schedule and the Privateers are set for 11 home contests at the UNO Lakefront Arena, beginning with an exhibition game against West Alabama as part of Homecoming Week on Saturday, Nov. 6. The slate also features 14 Southland Conference contests and non-conference clashes with Texas, Auburn, Baylor, Louisiana and Ole Miss.
"New seasons, new faces and for our non-conference games we are going new places," Davenport said. "I am really excited for this schedule that we have for the conference and non-conference season. As I always tell the team, if it does not challenge you, it does not change you and challenge is exactly what this set of games will do."
"We know that last year we faced some difficulties in multiple facets of the game that we needed to address, and we are going to have the opportunity to work on those things in the non-conference season as we prepare for our Southland schedule," Davenport added. "This season will be different from year's past in that our conference looks very different, but I still believe the Southland will be a very competing conference this year."
New Orleans will get the season underway when the Privateers host West Alabama in an exhibition on Saturday, Nov. 6 at the Lakefront Arena. The game will serve as a special occasion not just to open the new year, but it will also be the first contest nationally streamed by UNO as part of the athletic department's
new agreement with ESPN/ESPN+.

The Privateers will then take off for one of the most exciting November's of women's basketball in recent memory as the group will head to Texas (Nov. 9), Auburn (Nov. 12) and Baylor (Nov. 15). New Orleans will then return to the friendly confines of the Lakefront Arena for their Education Day against Xavier on Thursday, Nov. 18 at 11 AM CT. After the special contest with local students in attendance, UNO is away for three more games to close out the month with showdowns against Louisiana (Nov. 20), South Alabama (Nov. 23) and Ole Miss (Nov. 30).
December has three games on the slate, two at home and one on the road. The month gets started with a home tilt against Jacksonville State (Dec. 12). New Orleans will then stop at Alcorn State (Dec. 20) and end December at the Lakefront against Grambling State (Dec. 29).
This year's schedule also includes the unique Southland Pre-Season Tournament (Jan. 3-5) which is brand new for this season and the only conference postseason tournament previews of its kind in NCAA Division I. It will give teams an opportunity to experience the Houston area and playing in the Merrell Center.
"We are a unique and creative conference in that we will be the first to host a pre-season tournament which I am looking forward to seeing how that is going to play out," Davenport said. "Having the opportunity to go to Katy before the post season should be fun and a good opportunity for our student-athletes."
The Southland Tip Off Tournament will lead into five Southland games in January, with the first three at the Lakefront Arena against Louisiana rivals Nicholls (Jan. 15), Southeastern (Jan. 20) and Northwestern State (Jan. 22). The Privateers will then hit the road for clashes against HBU (Jan. 27) and McNeese (Jan. 29).
New Orleans will get February underway with two more road titles against A&M-Corpus Christ (Feb. 3) and UIW (Feb. 5) before the Privateers come back to the Lakefront to complete the home-and-home series with the Islanders (Feb. 10) and Cardinals (Feb. 12). UNO will host one more at the Lakefront against McNeese (Feb. 19) before the team takes to the road for matchups at Southeastern (Feb. 24) and Northwestern State (Feb. 26) to close out the month.
March features just two contests as the Privateers host HBU (March 2) for the final regular-season game of the year on the Lakefront before they take the short trip to Nicholls (March 5) for the regular-season finale.
The Southland Tournament will begin on Thursday, March 10 at the Merrell Center in Katy, Texas.
"It is an exciting year," Davenport concluded. "It is new faces, old faces, new places, and now is the time. We are not going to waste any of these opportunities to get the university and the city of New Orleans out to the nation, nor will we waste those opportunities for our program to get better."
