DAY ONE RECAP | DAY TWO RECAP
NEW ORLEANS – On Monday afternoon Head Coach
Jeff Lorio was left wondering what could have been, by Tuesday afternoon Lorio and his Privateers saw what can be when they reach their potential. New Orleans shot an 11-under par 277 – the fourth-best round in school history – to finish the Golfweek Fall Challenge in 7th place with a total score of 853.
"Super Senior"
Brady Bennett led the Privateers up the leaderboard shooting a career-low round of 66. On the front nine, Brady made birdies on two of his first four holes, before finishing his final three holes of the afternoon with back-to-back-to-back birdies. The Zachary native finished his 54-holes with a career-best score of 208 – tied for the sixth-best 54-hole score in program history. Bennett finished the tournament tied for ninth place – the third top-10 finish of his career.
Grayson Gilbert added another top-20 finish to his collection after ending Tuesday tied for 15th. Grayson finished his 54-holes at 210 (tied for the 14th best round in school history), following rounds of 72, 68, and 70. He has now finished inside of the top-20 in 10 out of 24 tournaments in his career.
Graduate transfer
Henry Augenstein had a nice afternoon Sunday as well finishing three-under-par. Dating back to his days at Wofford it was the first time in his collegiate career with a round below 70.
Rounding out the scoring for the Privateers were
Florian Moosmeier with a 220, and
Lukas Heckmann with a 223. All five Privateers on the course finished at par or better during round three, it was the first time every New Orleans golfer has finished at par or better in a single-round since the 2015 F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate, and for just the fourth time since 1992.
Next up the Privateers will travel to Madison, Ill., and the Gateway National Golf Links for the SIUE Derek Dolenc Invitational on Sept. 27-28.

HEAD COACH JEFF LORIO
"Really pumped up for the guys today. It was a great third round to cap off a very solid first tournament of the season. We picked up 11 wins this week over some good teams. A few of those wins will really be quality wins come the end of the season. This event will give the guys confidence going and motivation going forward – they've seen how good we can be when we play to our potential."
"With all the travel issues around Hurricane Ida, we couldn't practice leading up to the tournament. We were a tad sloppy in the first two rounds, and it's something we will continue to address moving forward. I told the guys that's the least of my concerns right now – the good news is campus has seemed to make it out okay. Our thoughts are still with those in our community that will be dealing with the effects of the storm for a long time."
