Box Score NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers women's tennis team won a crucial doubles point and
Mar Gendra clinched the Privateers' fifth consecutive victory as they defeated the ULM Warhawks 4-3 on Saturday at the University Tennis Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Privateers started by winning the first point of the day.
Ank Vullings and
Estelle Vanthier were in an early battle but they assumed control with a service break at 3-2. Vullings and Vanthier won another service break on the changeover that sealed a 6-2 triumph.
At flight one,
Lina Hohnhold and
Marthe Degeorges held serve to go ahead 5-3. They won the first three points off ULM's next serve and clinched the match two points later.
In singles,
Salma Abdelrahim provided a demonstrative victory at flight six (6-1, 6-3) to move the Privateers ahead 2-0.
Hohnhold scored a 6-2, 6-3 win at flight one to put New Orleans on the brink of victory. However, ULM came back with wins at flight two and four to cut the Privateer lead to 3-2.
The Privateers earned the clinching point at flight five to win the match.
Mar Gendra persevered in two tough sets 7-5, 7-5 to remain undefeated on the season in singles and give New Orleans the victory.

The Privateers will face South Carolina State on Thursday, Feb. 24 in Charleston. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
